how does bioluminescence work?

Bioluminescence is a form of chemiluminescence (is the emission of light witch is a result of a chemical reaction). It occurs wildly in marine vertebrates and invertebrates as well as some fungi. In some animals, the light is produced by symbiotic organisims such as vibrio bactiria.

Why do animals produce bioluminescence?

animals produce bioluminescence because they need to protect themselves ​from predators. Some animals produce a glowing ink to scare away predators.
